ADULT / PARENT CLASS

This class is designed for beginner adults, particularly busy parents over 40 who are new to Jiu-Jitsu or looking to refine their fundamentals. You’ll learn core sport and self-defense Jiu-Jitsu skills while building strength, agility, and confidence in a structured, friendly setting. The benefits go beyond just a workout, it’s a meaningful way to strengthen your bond with your child through a shared learning experience. Train together, grow together with lifelong bragging rights with your kids and friends.

WHY OUR PROGRAM

Designed for busy parents

This class is built specifically for mid-age adults with no background in wrestling or contact sports. While some adults thrive in mainstream academies alongside younger, highly athletic practitioners, many do not. Our pace, curriculum, and training approach are intentionally adapted to 40yo adult’s bodies, busy schedules, and long-term sustainability, helping prevent injury risk and frustration.

Learn faster

Training takes place in mini-group classes, allowing for personalized coaching and individual attention. We respect that your time is limited, so every class is structured to maximize learning, progress, and recovery.

10-week program with clear goals

The program follows a structured 10-week seasonal curriculum with defined objectives. Instead of assuming year-round training, each short cycle season focuses on a complete set of techniques that are reviewed and demonstrated at the end.

Share the journey with your child

For parents whose children train at Bel Air, this program offers a meaningful opportunity to strengthen your parent–child bond, by showing up, stepping outside your comfort zone, and leading by example on the mat.

Confidence that carries beyond the mat

Alongside improvements in strength and conditioning, you’ll develop real confidence by practicing a discipline that many people never have the courage to begin.

Do I need to be fit to start?

Fitness and conditioning are developed gradually through the program and are never expected on day one. This program is designed for adults starting from zero or returning after a long break, with a focus on building strength, mobility, and confidence safely and progressively. You should be able to get up and down from the floor at a controlled pace and participate in light physical activity. No athletic background, flexibility, or prior sports experience is required.

Do I need a gi uniform to start?

A gi is recommended but not required. You may train without one at first and decide later if you’d like to purchase a gi. You’re welcome to bring your own or buy one through us (recommended model available).

Will there be sparring?

Mini sparring and resistance drills are optional. When included, they are light, controlled, and always adapted to the comfort and experience level of both partners.

Is there a structured progression system?

Yes. The program follows a clear, level-based curriculum (Levels 1–4), with specific goals and milestones for each level.

What is the class format?
  • Warm-up (longevity-focused)
  • Technique instruction
  • Drilling (no resistance)
  • Light resistance / positional sparring (Always adapted to comfort and experience level)
  • Post-class stretching
What will be taught?

The curriculum focuses on essential self-defense and sport Jiu-Jitsu fundamentals, including safe movement, positional control, escapes, and basic submissions. Techniques learned are reviewed monthly, with a graduation at the end of each 10-week season for the students who trained consistently.

By the End of Level 1, Parents Will:

  • Learn basic Jiu-Jitsu movements
  • Understand basic Jiu-Jitsu terminology
  • Recognize and understand key positions
  • Understand positional hierarchy
  • Understand self-defense processes when trapped in a bottom position and when facing an attack from a standing position
  • Learn how to control an opponent safely
  • Understand core self-defense principles
  • Perform basic submissions with proper mechanics
  • Begin linking techniques into simple, logical sequences
  • Perform basic striking techniques
What happens at the end of each season?

At the end of each season, a certificate is awarded for each completed level (minimum of 7 classes required). A white stripe is added to the white belt after completing two seasons of training.

What if I miss a class?

You can make up a missed class by joining another class during the same week when possible, or during the same season or the immediately following season.
